2011 FORTINGALL ART EXHIBITION

The Fortingall Art summer exhibition took place from Saturday 30th July to Sunday 7th August, 2011, starting with a now traditional opening reception on Friday 29th July to which all members, patrons, and supporters were invited. The 2011 exhibition welcomed 1,500 visitors and 28 artists displayed their work.

We were priveleged to welcome Philip Archer, Principal of the Leith School of Art in Edinburgh, who opened the exhibition on the 29th July.

This year we held a short film competition with the title ‘Elemental’ as a broad guide. We invited entries from full-time students or young people from Perthshire with an interest in film-making. The winner was Euan Ivey and his film was shown throughout the exhibition.

There was also a competition for school children in various age ranges from 5 to 14 plus. Many delightful entries arrived and were again shown throughout the exhibition.

Prizes for both competitions were awarded during the opening reception on 29th July.

Our exhibitions take place in the lovely Molteno Hall at the western edge of the picturesque village of Fortingall.

2010 FORTINGALL ART EXHIBITION

Fortingall Art had its most successful exhibition ever in 2010, taking over £21,000 in the 10 days it was open. Twenty five out of the 28 exhibitors sold at least one exhibit and all the comments received throughout the exhibition were very complimentary. Over 200 came to the Opening night & heard Howard Pearce speak about his very positive outlook for Contemporary Scottish Art, and a considerable quantity of artwork was sold on that evening. The variety of art on display, including jewellery, sculpture and photographs as well as paintings in many different media, evoked much favourable comment.

Fortingall Art held a competition for children in four different age groups from five upwards and displayed the winning entries at the exhibition.

Fortingall Art are very grateful to Awards for All for their grant without which the exhibition would not have been able to run and to Highland Safari who so generously provided us with 2 marquees for the Opening night. We are also most grateful to all those who came from far & wide to view the exhibition. We had visitors from Germany, Australia, Canada & Holland and a significant number of pieces were sold to visitors from southern England. The entries for the schools competition were much admired and offers made for a few of those.

Our exhibitions take place in the lovely Molteno Hall at the western edge of the picturesque village of Fortingall.
