Glass

Creative with glass over many years, particularly kiln fusing, in my studio just along the road from Fortingall, has produced distinctive & bespoke contemporary designs, choosing bold colour with textured & innovative shapes, inspired by Scotland’s beautiful Highlands & Islands.
“Wild Flower Meadows & Machair” is the inspiration for Fortingall Art Exhibition 2025 created in Fused Glass.
Machair is the gaelic name for rare & renowned costal low lying & fertile grasslands that support a huge diversity of wildlife & flora found in the Hebrides of Scotland.
Combined crofting arable Machair with traditional grazing, growing & harvesting rye, oats & bere barley the fallow Machair then becomes a mosaic of colourful wildflowers in abundance, bustling with distinctive nesting birds & insects including rare bees & butterflies.
To create for exhibition presentation the glass is cut to design, layered & kiln fused reflecting vibrant & tactile collectable art, through the seasons of Scotland’s beautiful Islands.
