Cathy Wagstaff is a landscape artist based in Highland Perthshire.
French-born, Cathy has lived in numerous locations throughout Europe and Scotland before establishing herself here.
She creates bold and expressive semi-abstract paintings in mixed media and acrylics. She works in a series so each piece connects to another but is unique.
Cathy starts by sketching outside on location. She uses photos and videos loosely to jog her memory when back in the studio. She takes a pared down approach to reflect her vision and the essence of her impression of a place.
For her being in the landscape is synonym of freedom. The beauty of the ever-changing light, the spirit of a place and awe of the natural world are constant inspiration.
