Michael Buchanan
Printmaking
Michael graduated from Glasgow School of Art, BA Hons in Fine Art (Sculpture and Printmaking). After teaching art and design in Glasgow, Shetland and Dorset, Michael was an Art Adviser in London and trained art teachers to MA level at the University of London Institute of Education.
After a varied career as a senior education adviser, secondary headteacher, schools inspector, education consultant, civil servant and, latterly, designing and building schools, colleges and university facilities for a major contractor across the country, Michael picked up his printmaking tools again and set up his studio and workspace at his home in Highland Perthshire.
He specialises in original, hand-cut, limited edition relief printing, principally linocuts, with imagery drawn from both rural and urban experience from where he lives, visits and walks. Michael is an active member of Highland Print Studio.
