Photography
Based in both Edinburgh and Fortingall I have enjoyed photography as a hobby for many years and love to capture the beauty of the natural world, built environment and people around me. I use limited editing together with professional printing and framing to create a slightly abstract and painterly feel to the finished photograph. The photos exhibited were all taken in the area around Aberfeldy and Glen Lyon and use poetic extracts by Robert Burns for the titles.
Ceramics
I am a studio member at the Edinburgh Ceramics Workshop having taken pottery classes there a few years ago. Inspired by the colours of nature my style is evolving towards small functional pieces made in rustic groggy clays and muted glazes to give a natural earthy finish. As a florist, gardener and coffee lover many of my pieces are designed to hold flowers or houseplants, an espresso or flat white and often have a botanical imprint or a simple carved detail.
